Board Member Spotlight: Jill Quackenbush
There’s a Middlebury Skatepark Coalition (MSC) member behind each and every success that we celebrate and each and every step that we take toward our ultimate goal of designing and building a contemporary skatepark in Middlebury. This month we are introducing you to Jill Quackenbush to recognize her contributions to our efforts.
Jill joined the MSC in July after finding us on instagram and reaching out to see how she could help. We took her up on that offer and a few months later she built a website to provide a digital home base for us and is donating hosting services. More recently, Jill has been diving deep into the 501c3 process whenever she needs a break from the deep dive of renovating her recently purchased home.
Jill recently moved to Bristol by way of Portland Oregon where contemporary skateparks are a dime a dozen. Jill’s discipline is aggressive park roller skating and she’s proud of the fact that she picked it up at age 40 and encourages others who may be reluctant to try to do the same. Jill and her husband Todd and their two kids Calvin and Lou spend a lot of time at the Bristol skatepark and at various skateparks throughout the state.
Like so many other new families drawn to Addison County and drawn to the Middlebury Skatepark Project they are outdoor recreation enthusiasts and they are already taking steps to expand and enhance those recreational opportunities for their community. The Quackenbush family didn’t select Addison County randomly though, Todd grew up spending his summers on Lake Dunmore and even helped to build and run the skatepark that used to live in Memorial Sports Center! We appreciate all of the work that Jill has done and welcome this family of skatepark advocates to our community.
