Board Member Spotlight: Jill Quackenbush

Jill joined the MSC in July after finding us on instagram and reaching out to see how she could help. We took her up on that offer and a few months later she built a website to provide a digital home base for us and is donating hosting services. More recently, Jill has been diving deep into the 501c3 process whenever she needs a break from the deep dive of renovating her recently purchased home.

Proposed Skatepark Location: In the Middle of Middlebury

Thanks to the site analysis work of Middlebury student Clark O’Bryan, we’ve pin-pointed an amazing potential location in Recreation Park, and have even received an initial “thumbs-up” from the Parks and Recreation Department!

Fundraiser at Notte on November 12th

The Middlebury Skatepark Project is hosting a benefit at Notte Pizza on Saturday, November 12th at 5pm! This family-friendly event will start off with delicious food and drink, kids’ activities and a raffle and continue with music from Bruhm and the Eschatones starting at 8pm. There is a $10 suggested donation at the door. 25% of all food and drink sales go to the Skatepark Project! M.S.P. stickers and t-shirts will also be for sale, and we will have a couple of skateboard-themed activities for the kids. Come for dinner, bring friends, and join the momentum!

The Middlebury Skatepark Coalition is made up of skatepark advocates working to improve our community by enhancing and expanding the outdoor recreation opportunities available to our youth and to our residents. Erik Remsen is an active member of our coalition and wears many different hats within our community as he works to improve it. The Middlebury Campus: Community members, students hope to bring skatepark to Middlebury

It can be hard to find a place to skateboard in Vermont —  and even harder to find a safe place to experiment with new skills. Currently, most local skateboarders make the trek to permanent skateparks in Burlington, Vt. for a space to hone their craft.  There is no purpose-built skatepark in Addison County. But the Middlebury Skatepark Project wants to change that.
